Winx Lessons 101: Lineart Skills

Hello, and welcome to Winx Lessons 101. These tutorials will help any Winx artist who, like me, like their art to resemble the original shows style as closely as possible. Each lesson covers a specific topic and portion, and will be listed in order to show the process of a beautiful winx-based art piece.

As any winx artist knows, Lineart is crucial to any art piece, whether I be 3D or 2D, and without your Lineart sketched, you may end up with a giant scribbled mess (It's like a coloring-book: what's the fun if there's nothing to color-in?). Here's a basic overview on how to have a beautif

How I Use SAI (TUTORIAL)

I always have a bunch of layers to keep it all neat. Otherwise the lines look messy :S

Tools used:
:bulletgreen: pen
:bulletgreen: curve
:bulletgreen: blur
:bulletgreen: airbrush
:bulletgreen: select
:bulletgreen: deselect
:bulletgreen: magic wand
:bulletgreen: bucket-fill
:bulletgreen: tablet
(you should also have a basic understanding of layers, layer clips/masks, and opacity)

Basic Steps:

1) First I draw a sketch on a couple of layers. After I finish sketching, I combine all the "sketch" layers

About textures, stocks and brushes

Always be careful! Don't just take anything and use it, you always have to look where it's from and if the creator wants you to give credit.
If you want to find textures or stocks without copyright, just google "unlicensed textures" and see what you get!

I just googled a bit and found these, but I didn't watch close if they have really nice things :3

I prefer using unlicensed textures, because sometimes it can be annoying if you want to sell wings and have a long list with credits and somebody buys, uses and has to copy the long list etc. You know what I mean?

erm could you like tell us the layers and stuff. Like what do you name your layers and stuff? Cause I get mixed up

Glitterlayer
Layer 0 [added at the end] - Overlay or Luminosity Mode for colour play c:
Layer 1 - Lineart
Layer 2 - colouration of the lines
Layer 3 - textures

thanks, now I can finally make my wings...I tried once and it was a total failure. So I just deleted those wings

You should never compare your art to other people's art! Everybody has their own way to create art

thanks! But I just keep aiming to draw really nice. Even when my friends say it looks nice, I still think I can improve..but I always can't do it right!

How do you flip it on sai?

Here's how I do it: select the thing you want to flip with the "box select" [don't know how to call it, it's on the left side of the Lasso Tool and the Magic wand]. Then click "Flip horizontally" [it's a grey button you can find if you just go from the box select tool downwards under "perspective"]
